What almost seems like a fairytale-like house this big cottage provides a lot of comfort and a big dose of rustic decor. Dark wood is dominating the exterior but a playful insert of lighter shades makes the entire design appear fresh and inviting! It’s located at 3016 River Road Columbus North Carolina and costs $535000 with 3 beds and 3 baths.
Modular seating coupled with comfy contemporary décor defines this area with a kitchen in black and yellow next to it. The top level holds the master bedroom along with an additional hall home office and other private spaces.
Designed by Tobias Partners the house was originally built in 1980s and was in urgent need of a fresh modern makeover. Despite the difficult access to the lot and the constraints placed by the existing form of the house the interiors were completely opened up to welcome in gentle ocean breeze and a flood of natural light.
A simple clean color scheme relying on white ensures that the interior is as contemporary and understated as possible. Concrete overhangs add to the seemingly pavilion style of the home where traditional boundaries are done away with.
Both the ease in design and assemble mean minimal on-site construction making prefabs such as these absolutely perfect for eco-sensitive setting where the existing flora and fauna need to be left as undisturbed as possible.
The street façade of the LA House was built to keep out prying eyes with the rear opening towards the garden and pool area. Large swiveling glass doors usher in ample natural light and ventilation with the double-height central living area become the fulcrum of all activity.
A set of moving panels and a spacious shelf become the focal point of the family room with the panels sliding in and out of place to hide TV storage spaces and other compartments when not in use. A comfy daybed in green next to the window provides even more storage space with a slim work desk next to it becoming the study zone.
